User Guide - Microsoft Outlook Express
Outlook Express is an e-mail client that was included with Internet Explorer versions 4.0 through 6.0. It was bundled with several versions of Microsoft Windows, from Windows 98 to Windows XP. Windows Vista ships with Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail, which is not covered in this User Guide.Outlook Express is a completely different application from Microsoft Outlook. The similar names lead many people to incorrectly conclude that Outlook Express is a stripped-down version of Outlook. Outlook Express uses the Windows Address Book to store contact information and integrates tightly with it. On Windows XP, it also integrates with Windows Messenger.
Outlook Express is no longer offered by Microsoft. The latest version is Outlook Express 6 SP3, which is part of Windows XP SP3. Support for Windows XP SP3 will end in 2014. Please contact Microsoft Support for more information if needed.

- Your e-mail password - this will be case-sensitive and will contain numbers, letters and special characters such as !@#$%
- Your mail server - this will be either example.com or mail.example.com
