Release Notes - Liferay-GlassFish

This document will provide Liferay-GlassFish release notes for all operating systems offered by eApps. Please see the section specific to the operating system of your subscription. To get the operating system of your subscription take the steps below.
Log into your Control Panel > click My Account tab > Subscriptions > click the Name of the subscription (with type Virtuozzo Container)> the operating system is listed on the Server section of the page.

The latest version available on CentOS 5 plans is 5.2.3

How to upgrade
Backup your database
Please go to system tab -> all applications and check if PhpMyadmin is listed on the installed applications.
If not, go to -> system tab -> add application -> select PhpMyAdmin -> update, wait until you can see it as installed in the All Applications list.
You will need to know the password for root mysql user, if you don't know it, you should change it in: system tab -> databases -> change root password.
Now go to domain.com/myadmin and login using user root and the mysql root password.
Once logged in, click on Export. now from the left panel called Export, select the lportal. From the SQL Options on the right panel, you will need to select 'Add DROP DATABASE', also please select from the bottom panel 'Save as file' and chose a name in the FileName template field. You can select a compression method also.
Now click on GO, and wait until you are prompted to save the file on your local PC.
Upgrade Liferay
- Log into your Control Panel > Click System Tab > All Applications > Liferay-GlassFish > Upgrade To Latest
After the upgrade process above your old Liferay files will be backed up to /opt/glassfish.backup.date_time_of_upgrade. The upgrade is also a new installation of the GlassFish so the password for the admin interface will be set to the default. You can get the default password from your Control Panel -> System tab -> Liferay-GlassFish are. You can also use the instruction in this are to change the password.
Configure Liferay to Use Your Exiting Database - The database access configuration for life has been moved from the liferay portlet web.xml to /opt/glassfish/domains/domain1/config/portal-ext.properties. You will need to recreate your liferay database connection pool. Please see the Liferay-GlassFish userguide at https://support.eapps.com/hsp/liferayglassfish for details. Since this is a upgrade and you are connecting to an existing database, MySQL users will need to start from step 5 and PostgreSQL user will start from step 9 of the user guide.
CentOS 4 and Fedora Core
Liferay-GlassFish is not available on CentOS 4 and Fedora Plans. If you would like to use Liferay-GlassFish, you can migrate to a CentOS 5 plan. For migration details please send a request to support@eapps.com.
