How to upgrade

To upgrade the application, go to the Control Panel > System tab (if necessary, click on Select Another System (Subscription) and choose the correct subscription) > Applications > Parallels Power Panel. Click on Parallels Power Panel, and this will take you to a screen that has a Control Panel URL, which will be in the format of https://example.com:4643. Click on the URL to access the Parallels Power Panel.

Note The Parallels Power Panel uses a self-signed SSL certificate. You will need to accept this SSL certificate to continue.

This takes you to the log in screen for the Parallels Power Panel

PPP - login screen

  • Username - root

  • Password - the root user’s password

Click on Login

This takes you to the Parallels Power Panel Desktop screen. In the left navigation pane, click on Packages (in Container Management)

Note The initial Packages screen has to load all the available packages on the VPS, which may take a few minutes. Please be patient.

To quickly find the package to update, enter httpd in the Name box, and then click on Search.

Search - httpd package

This will find the installed httpd package. If you have installed the CentOS Development Tools, you will also have an httpd-devel package.

Click the check box to the left of the httpd package (and also the httpd-devel package if installed), and then click on Update (not Update All) just above name of the package.

Update - httpd package

This starts the process to update the package. This can take several minutes, with the progress displayed on the screen.

Once the process completes, the packages will be shown with the correct version.

Updated - httpd package

Once the update process completes, you can exit the Parallels Power Panel by either closing the browser window or clicking the Sign Out link at the bottom of the left navigation pane.

Warning The update process may appear to fail, due to a timeout issue in the Parallels Power Panel. If you receive an error after the update process has been running for several minutes, click on the Refresh link near the top right of the screen, which will load all the packages again (and may take a few minutes). Then, search for the httpd package by Name. You should find that the packages have been updated. If the packages have not been updated, please contact eApps Support for assistance.
